SNCF, the first rail partner of MEA

02 Jun 2006

MIDDLE EAST AIRLINES, the national carrier, and  SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français) announced today the signature of a bimodal TGV/air partnership agreement involving 15 cities in the French provinces.

The SNCF is the first rail partner of MEA. This partnership, promoted under the TGV/air brand, offers combined a TGV/Air ticket, thus, making it easy for MEA passengers to travel throughout the French provinces upon their departure from Beirut.

The combined TGV/air ticket entitles the passengers to buy ONE ticket for the entire TGV/Air itinerary. Twenty minutes at the latest before the TGV departure, the related flight-coupon should simply be swapped for a TGV ticket at the TGV counter of the SNCF station of departure. The combined TGV/MEA ticket does not allow any stopover in Paris.

This service will be proposed upon reservation, and covers the following 15 French stations: Angers St Laud, Avignon TGV, Bordeaux St Jean,  Le Mans, Lille – Europe, Lyon - Part Dieu, Marseille St Charles, Montpellier St Roch, Nantes, Nîmes, Poitiers, Rennes, St Pierre des Corps/Tours, Toulon and Valence TGV.

"This agreement is very important for MEA. Further to this bilateral agreement with SNCF, MEA will be able to meet the increasing demand of its Lebanese customers heading to the French provinces”, as stated by Nizar Khoury, MEA Head of Commercial.
