Dear Passenger,
When the Board of Directors took office in early 1998, it set for itself goals that can be summed up in building an airline that would be a source of pride for passengers, for the Lebanese and MEA employees.
Fifteen years later, we were able to achieve these goals. Today we operate one of the most modern fleets in the world, and we have raised the standard of services and preserved the highest safety standards, which have distinguished the carrier over long decades. We have thus earned your loyalty, and that has enabled us to achieve positive financial results for the 11 consecutive years during a period when Lebanon witnessed the most challenging political and security crises and at a time when most airlines in the world have been struggling.
The credit for that achievement can be attributed to the vision, unity and plan of the Board of Directors and the efforts of everyone working in this airline, from pilots to flight attendants, personnel, technicians and employees, this human element that has distinguished MEA from other airlines.
On this occasion, we cannot but recall the role of H.E. Prime Minister Martyr Rafik Hariri in ensuring the success and follow-up of the airline’s restructuring plan from launch to final stages of implementation.
I thank every loyal person who has had faith in this airline and its future, particularly H.E. Governor of the Lebanese Central Bank Riad Salameh for his trust and continuous support, which have enabled MEA to persist, advance and prosper.
A heartfelt salute from the MEA family to H.E. President of the Lebanese Republic Michel Sleiman, H.E. Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, H.E. Prime Minister Najib Mikati and H.E. Minister of Public Works and Transport Ghazi Al-Aridi for their constant support and endorsement of “the mother of national institutions”.
